Four reasons to take holidays in January

You may have just returned to work after Christmas break and thoughts of more holidays are in the distant future (or maybe your return to work has inspired you to take more vacation).

Either way, taking holidays in January is one of the least expensive times to do so.  Here are a few solid reasons to consider taking vacation time in January.

Break from the holidays

Although the holiday season says “holiday” there isn’t a whole lot of holiday-ing going on in the traditional sense of the word. Chances are you spend loads of time cooking, baking, running errands and a lot of other hectic tasks. Did you have an extended period in which to relax? Probably not. Maybe you need a holiday from your holiday season.

One man show

No matter if you are heading south or hitting the slopes, one of the major benefits of traveling in January is that you might be one of the only ones on the beach or the slopes.

What’s better than being on vacation? Being on vacation with no crowds.

Last minute winner

While waiting until the last minute to book your holidays can be a bit of a gamble, this is traditionally one of the better times of year to take advantage of last minute prices. If you are flexible on dates and destination, you can have a real budget-friendly adventure.

If you are a skier, check out some border towns, who often offer Canadian dollar at par offers, particularly at this time of year to try to fill their resorts.

Plan now for next year

If you don’t have cash in the bank post-holiday season to fund your vacation, why not take this opportunity to start planning for next year? Nothing is better on a cold January day than looking at pictures of a beach. You can dream and put money aside starting now- so that next January you can take advantage of all the January travel benefits, without debt.
